The CoHemis Consortium
In 1992, CoHemis began to form a hemispheric network of institutions committed to collaborate with the Center’s mission and objectives. This network constitutes a comprehensive, unique pool of resources for collaborations in science and technology. The international seminars, short courses, workshops and conferences produced by CoHemis and its Consortium result in benefits for the entire Americas. In recent years several efforts have been directed to Europe. Therefore, new collaborations in oceanography have now allowed that two institutions from Spain joined our Consortium. The CoHemis Consortium currently consists of 48 institutions from 19 countries of the Americas, the Caribbean, and Spain. This Consortium includes 35 universities and 13 institutions of science and technology which are looking to expand their participation in collaborative activities for mutual benefits. It is based on a set of bilateral agreements of each member with UPRM to facilitate exchanges of faculty and students, assistantships, participation in hemispheric activities, joint research, and sharing research facilities. Each member has an officially designated person to respond to queries from other Consortium members. The current members are:
