Promoting technological collaboration with Tanzania
Dr. Yusufu Jande, Professor in the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST) in Arusha, Tanzania and currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Georgia Tech visited our campus during the last week of October 2016. Dr. Jande was invited by Dr. Marcel Casto Sitiriche, CoHemis Co-Director and former Fulbright Visiting Scholar in the mentioned institution of Tanzania. Both were met in Africa and wish to maintain their collaboration. Dr. Castro, with CoHemis support, coordinated several activities for the visitor including a seminar to the university community about his work, visits to laboratories, and meetings with students and teachers.
The visitor had also the opportunity to meet with the Chancellor, Dr. John Fernández Van Cleve, to discuss possible avenues of collaboration between the two academic institutions. "We appreciate the important support of the Chancellor, that sponsored the accommodation in the Hotel Colegial for Dr. Yusuf Jande and that served as matching funds of the Outreach Lecturing Fund of the Fulbright Program", recognized the Co-Director of CoHemis.
